The historical centre of Venice resides on more the hundred islands in the middle of the lagoon of Venice. You may visit Venice starting (from/to Rovinj, Poreč or Umag) with a sppeedboat from Istria or you spend a night on the way force or back in Mestre and enjoy a one day trip to Venice.

Finally your journey leads back over the Ponte dell’ Accademia to the Piazza San Marco. A good extension to a guided tour through Venice is a trip with the Vaporetto to the island of Murano. Murano lies within the Venetian lagoon and has about 6.000 inhabitants. The City is famous for its glassblowing. In the 13th century all glass ovens were moved from Venice to the island, not only for the reason of fire prevention but manly to keep the highly protected secrets of glass production. The well paid glassblowers were on pain of death penalty prohibited to pass on their knowledge. They lived like prisoners on the island.
